Dan Quinn, who was raised in Morris Township and played high school football at Morristown High School, is the new coach of the Washington Commanders, according to multiple NFL insiders. Quinn will be the 31st coach in the team's history.
Quinn most recently served as defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons, winning, Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021. He was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020; guiding the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016, where they infamously blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots.
As defensive coordinator for the Seahawks, Quinn helped lead them to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The Commanders present a tall task for Quinn. The team hasn't had a winning season since 2016, hasn't won a playoff game since 2005, and last won a Super Bowl in the 1991 season.
